I have a 2006 chevy z71 the 5.3 motor blew so I replaced it with a use low mile 4.8  the people I asked.  said it would work.     It ill turn over but will not fire I checked all wire plugins changed out all coil packs any suggestions would be appreciated

what year is the replacement motor...

there are slight changes from year to year...


do you have an OBD2 scan tool to look.. NOT at the codes.. but at the live data stream from the sensors.????


the changes are in the numbers of teeth on the crank and cam reluctors...

since there are no distributors per say... the computer looks at the tone wheel counts to know when to fire the injectors and when to fire the ignition...


by the way.. did you hook up all the ground wires???? each ground wire is for a different circuit..

since electrons travel from negative to positive..   no ground.. you won't have any electrons to power those devices or circuits...

Not sure on the ground  wires .  The motor came out of a 2005 Tahoe

hmm....  this is not going to be an easy fix... unless you have the matching computer..

i still don't know enough about the differences between years of this newer stuff..

i bet somebody here does...

there are probably differences in the cam tooth count or the way its picked up also...
