I have got some lifter noise in my 383 small block it's not real bad but I noticed that five or six lifters will collaspe just turning over the motor to check the valve lash .The cam is a Howard's hydraulic roller with Oem lifters and proform 1.5 rockers .The valve springs are supposed the be set up for this cam and lifter combination .The motor runs fine but the noise kinda botheres me

i thought i had a problem with mine doing the same thing when i put a new
cam and lifter kit into my engine, turned out that when i rotated the engine
over by hand to adjust the rockers the valve spring pressure is great enough
to purge the oil out of the lifters, since there is no oil being supplied to
the lifters when you just turn the motor over a few times they will bleed off.

My engine almost sounds like I am running an old solid lifter cam but like I said it runs great just a little noisy
