Hi guys, At last post I purchased an unknown engine, was convinced to tear it down as it had sat a while. Now I have a balanced and blueprinted, .30 over 350, with RHS .202 race heads set up for a roller cam, 1.5 roller rockers. It had Hflat tappet .280 cam. I am goint to do the right thing and go with a roller cam. (Qjet,700R4, tall rear axle) Here is the problem, I wanted s daily driver for a 74 3400# el camino. Im tryibg to find a cam worthy of the engine. But a daily driver? Is it plausable to make this a daily driver or is a new motor in order?

Oh Hell Yeah!!!!
Unless you want to race it its a great street engine with the correct set-up.
Let us know if the 700R4 trans has been modified, and Rear gear ratio your running. Its best just tell us what you have....
Hydraulic Roller Cam kits are a big expense. You want the correct cam the first time!

In my opinion you can't beat a roller for performance and durability. Try running a flat tappet with 1000 lb spring pressure. There is no comparison. I don't remember how many flat tappets I flattened out before I wised up and went with a roller. I never went back to a flat tappet once I did.

Im going to go with a stage 2 trans. Im looking at about 400hp. flat tops with 4 reliefs, 9.5:1 as it sits. Looking at cam choices right now. Im trying to get some MPG out of this motor without killing the performance. Any suggestions on cam? Ive got OE lifters and retainers.
