I am trying to get tank out of 86 Z28,is there anyway to get it out without cutting the exhaust pipe at rear?

if its stock exhaust,...jack the car up and support it by the subframe.   take off the rear tires.    put a jack under the rear.   unbolt the shocks at the rearend.   lower the rear.   watch your brake lines & coil springs.  the springs will fall out.   unbolt the exhaust at the catalytic converter, and the 2 hangers in the back.   should slide right out.

If you make straight, clean cuts, an exhaust coupler pipe could be used to reconnect the exhaust.

just a thought
