DIY Tilt Front End Tips?

I have acquired a one piece fiberglass front end for my vega and I'm considering a tilt installation as opposed to a lift-off, I've spent quite a bit of time searching online and haven't found any sites that have installation instructions that might give me some ideas. Any suggestions? Thanks

I always thought the tilt front end was a good idea. I had one 55 with a tilt front end and I liked it. My later cars used the lift off which allowed more access to the motor but was harder to remove, especially when I was by myself.

Just BRACE them as much as you can. Of course that adds weight, and watch it doesn't interfere with any working linkages, fans that kind of stuff...LOL...
My bud in NJ had a 55 Chevy that had one. The biggest advantage I found. When helping him was the room we had to work in. Engine swaps were a breeze. Watch when it's windy they not only fall easy, but they crack easy also, I don't care who made it or how well built it is.
The disadvantage was lifting that bad-boy off if we had too....
He liked it so much when he built his 62 Ford Falcon he managed to reverse the hood, and with some engineering he got it to work. I might add and worked well. (Oh it had a small block Chevy engine in it) He wanted something diferent...LOL..

I had a 66 Nova with a flip front end.,. sold it to a bud (wheelierob) The hinges have to look like "L" shaped trunk hinges.,. to work properly.

TUFF: Thats a great tip. There are ways to anchor them. You don't want one to exit the rest of the car. We all know what happens when the pros blow an the disc out of the blower, and the force it has. I know a lot has to do with the Nitro, but a lot has to do with the way the air grabs it.
My buddy with the Ford Falcon had part of his scoop grab the air the wrong way and gave him a ride. Dave632 this was at Great Meadows. You remember how short the shut down area was before you went into the sod.... It always seem to happen (At the big end where else). He said the way it came back and the force, if he didn't have a roll cage he really would have been in trouble. The scoop actually bent the bar in front of him. It was a mess. He was lucking the windshied stayed in the old rubber molding.

It has been a long time since I was at Great Meadows and my cars were not that fast back then so the shut down was not a great problem even with drum brakes. My Beretta would have had more MPH in the 1/16th than those car did in the 1/4. Wow a hood scoop bending part of a roll cage!!! Sure would not like to have that hit my head, it would have ruined the hood scoop...
