Me and my family were there in 1988 when Richard Petty tumbled along the fence. He walked away. In fact He was on Letterman's that night.
The cars are safer then ever. Thanks to the driver's, and their demands and Technology. The fans will be proteceted better after this crash also. Accidents are just accidents.
If anyone saw the NHRA Winternationals just last weekend. They would have seen the crash Antron Brown took. Shaken up yes, but still here.
Don Schumacher has been working on that canopy to make it safe. Don Garlit's started it, but the technology just wasn't there.
