Are truck transmissions (2 wheel drive) the same as car transmissions, just with a transfer case ? Stan

2-wheel drives dont have transfer cases. another thing is the way the governer is calibrated. if you put a truck tranny in a light car, it will shift too quickly. a re-calibration kit is around $40.oo. its a good idea to measure the length of the tranny you want, because they came with different length tailshafts. the th350 came with 4, 6, and 9 inch tailshafts for example.

Stan: Do you know what trans your going to purchase? Like Joe said if it's not a 4X4 your in better shape. You can also cut a driveshaft of go to the junkyard and look for a different driveshaft...
