Have a 1980 Chevy Luv 4x4 pickup.  Starts in gear, what might be the problem?  Bought it from a guy that said he had bypassed the switch but everything is hooked up.  If bypassed, where should I start looking?  Has power before I push the pedal down and when the pedal is down, it doesn't have any power.

thanks

well... did you find both wires to the clutch interlock switch???

when the plunger is depressed all the way... the contacts close allowing current to pass through it to the starter solenoid...

warning.. i have worked on these luv trucks before...  i have had terrible issues with the clutch pedal cable attachment points.. and with the firewall breaking through where the cable sits.. and the clutch pedal bracket...

this might help also...

i know this is going to HELP>.

Wayne you are absolutely correct:

This one a tech got had a cruise control that was aftermarket, and it never worked right. I don't know what the problem was. It hit the steel work bench...LOL... It had no brake lights. There was a company that does all kinds of installs.
I think it was a vacuum switch. The tech at the dealership got it to work. It had brake lights also
 What Japenese company made them?
