Block #3970010 is 350 for Corvette, but 1969.  Also used in Camaro, Chevy ll, Chevelle, and Passenger cars.  Horsepower from 255 -350.  1966 didnot have a 350 block not till 1969.  1966 did have a 327 / 350 hp, the # for that is - there is two - 3858174. and 3892657  lp, (uu) - late production, and uncertain usage.   That is in one book.   Another book says 1966 Corvette 327 , #3858174, and #3858180.  The third book agrees with both  books. #3892657 was used in 1966 &1967 , as a 327.  Hope this helps

dells66 Welcome to CHP.

The P/N 3970010 reprsents a large joutnal 4" bore block. It can be a 2 or 4 glock block. You will have to pull the pan to determine that. That is all that number represents, nothing more..

oh.. by the way.. not to deflate you.. but the block id number stamped into the front of the deck surface on the right side.. TYU decodes to ..

1975        TYU        350        van & bus        vin L    RPO LS9        165HP        4 bbl        C-20 to 3500

these are almost always 4 bolt main blocks.. many had forged cranks.. usually OE applications with manual transmissions..  but who knows what's inside your engine..

some of those motors had head casting numbers like xxxx173..   or something like that.. the springs and keepers are the same.. but the exhaust valve stems are 3/8" instead of the normal 11/32" this is because the larger valve stem allowed sodium to be used in the hollow valve stems.. the sodium melted and bounced up and down.. transferring heat from the valve head to the guide where the heat could be radiated to the coolant around the guides in the head.  this was because the original motor was designed to last pulling heavy loads for hours on end..
the sodium exhaust valve heads also had smaller than 1,94" intakes    i don't recall.. 1.84 or 1.72".. to limit high speed operation..

but you could have any number of heads on this motor..
