this question leads me to something that somebody said to me a few months back.. i had a carb scattered all over the work bench.. he ask me if i did a lot of jig saw puzzles... i looked and said.. too boring.. i like three dimensional versions that make noise and go fast when i have finished.. ..
well.. many of us will be glad to give you some idea.. of what goes where.. but since they have made small block chevys since 1955 and 350s since 1967.. there are a LOT of variations in the way things were hung on the front of the motor...
so.. got a few hints of the year car you have and the year of the components you are trying to reassemble..
the crank pulley.. the water pump pulley.. the power steering pulley and most of the brackets will have part numbers stamped into them...
you can post all the numbers you can find here...
also photograph the pile of parts and upload the image to photobucket.. its free.. and paste the individual images links here..
so we can see ...
i love a good 3D jigsaw puzzle..

hi if you are patient I would love to ask you a couple of questions. first im not the mechanic. he is older and does not use internet. I do that's why im asking and not him. we have put a 350 sm block chevy into a jeep frame and intend to put a t bucket tub on this project. have the frame complete all the way including new brakes ect. now we are putting alternater ,water pump, power steering pump, bought a electric morrosso water pump because it was shorter. back on engine. struggling with clearences the alternater is mounted on passenger side top of engine and power steering pump would bolt on lower drivers side of engine but my question is is there different brackets to use that would allow these parts to line up but be positioned a liitle differently or smaller power steering pump that would fit. any suggestions on this would be helpful and I could relay tips or look up brackets and mounting options. thanks

upncomn welcome to CHP:
There are so many variations to all those brackets. Like Wayne had suggested pictures, pictures. A service manual but it needs to be spoecific to that year. If your willing to start over, and spend a few extra bucks. Jegs has a complete section with the correct brackets in them. Or Moroso has all of them too. I had to do that once many years ago. I didn't have any brackets for an engine my son got involved in. We purchased all the brackets, and stayed with that one lay-out. There is even a kit to mount the alternator low under the drivers side. out of the way. But which ever way you decide to go order those pieces. Most are chrome and not expensive. Good luck and hope this helped....
