I am currently racing a 1981 Malibu in Chumpcar events across the Southeast on road courses from Daytona, Sebring , to Road Atlanta & Roebling road. I would like to install 1980 Camaro front brake rotors and spindles on it for strength, larger rotors etc. when they are installed however they are taller spindles, camber goes way positive. I need to use stock parts to stay within the rules. Does the lower control arm from the Camaro or Impala fit? Any other suggestions? Vince

How much taller are the camaro spindles?  It would seem that you should be able to use some extra shims and re set the camber?  I am reasonably sure that the lower control arms are the same from a camaro to a malibu.  I have seen both but never compared them.

The Malibu needs -2 degrees camber or even more to handle properly, keep the tire temps even across the tread face.We achieved this with offset upper control arm shafts and maxing out with shims. The Camaro spindle takes it from -2 to +2 camber
A longer lower control arm would do it. Vince

so you have more than .500 shims in the upper control arms? Is is possible to invert the offset upper shafts to get back in the negative?

Just throwing out ideas, the height of the spindle shouldnt make that much difference in the camber, a taller spindle helps make for better camber through the suspension travel.

I wonder if the spindle is simply  not compatible with the upper control arm, if you are getting out of range with the shims and an off set shaft that is what sounds like is happening to me.

I would NOT suggest you Cheat but Speedway motors has offset bushings to help with this but you MUST pay attention to your Scrub Radius(one wheel turning more than the other) bumpsteer, corrected by moving(up or down) where the tie rod mounts to the steering arm.Use spindles from a 76-77 seville with 12 inch rotors and get a set of 11 inch rear drums and backing plates from a like year Full size GM, Brakes are a good thing!get a Speedway catalog lots of good stuff, roundtrack and Road race  share lots of the same stuff.anything else I got is likely cheating,
