That's a BB head.that should be a OTC head. If you can't find one. 454 MARKIV Crate engines. Rec,Port 1970-up.

Have you tried the bone yards. How about E-Bay. Craig's List, www.racingjunk.com Good Luck

I also have been looking for a set of 990's,GM does not Stock it any more but there is a replacement for that too(crate engine),I don't have that number though.that Info came from Scoggins-Dickey,Carl Black In Atlanta,A lady there told me they were also on old U P S trucks, but I don't know who Scrap's them.BUT after looking through Racingjunk I found a man in Moline at gustafengines@hotmail.com (ron) that has some for sale and that was also the best price I found.I want Two of them so let's hope he has 3.

Noones going to break up a set circa the 1970's.

What's the problem with it. Is it a numbers matching head. You would be surprised how they fix cast iron today.

If I can mig weld a broken 8X8 cast iron tamper and have it hold? (for pounding the ground or asphalt)It's been together for many, many years.... Seriously if it's a crack on a numbers matching head I would look around. Atleast have a plan (B).
Thanks
Bob

Pepsi, yes I understand that but it sounded like Ron Gustaf may have an odd one(1) and sets, after posting I called another Man in Fla that has a set one dropped a valve and put a hole in the water jacket and though he had several sets of heads for Sale Things have been moving Slowly and he just Scrapped all but the 990's and now wants to keep them, to get the one repaired. My thought is a 990 is a replacement head so numbers match isn't a concern other than two of a kind.

Thanks for the replys guys. This is for a high Compression boat engine. Just need a rectangular port open chamber 990 to match the other. I've looked around alot and found some pairs, some bare, some built. I have a line on a couple bare singles, we'll see how that goes. @76skylark, the guy in Fla might be someone I spoke to??? I had a bare head sent up here but it had a crack, so... The guy was cool about it and did'nt keep the $, said he magged it, but.. I still have some time till next season so trying to save some $$$ and just get only what I need.

Again Thanks

I have 3 good 990's and one that has a small crack,  I had two of them on my 468 14.5:1 drag boat.  I went with aluminum heads that are flowing simular numbers but lighter.  the 990s are heavy but flow great numbers.   On a boat weight is a big factor.  I'm in Texas and can ship these heads to you if you cover the shipping cost.  I'll take $275 for each of the heads.  Two of the heads have been ported and polished.  that cost me over $1000 to have done.  I have them on the shelf if you still need them.  These heads have kicked ass on the lake at Jet fest and other power boat shootouts...I'm running .750 lift cam victor jr tunnel ram with dual 1150 dominators.  I have a mag distributor and monster basset headers.  I run 100+ octane fuel.  my number is (361)318-5536 and can be reached after Dec 27th 2013, I work in the gulf of Mexico and will be back on land at that time.  You can call my cell and leave a message now if you'd like.  or email me now at beaconsafetysolutions@yahoo.com and I will contact you from my work phone.  Thank you and happy racing.
