I am rebuilding my 1955 Bel Air from the frame up.  I am planning on using a small block with about 425 horsepower.  I don't want to race this car, but I want it to be fast out the gate with good control.  The car will be slightly lowered.  What is best suspension?  If I use 4 link, is bolt on okay or does it need to be welded?  Thanks

Bgs,,,
I can't really see how a 4 link can be set up with no welding at all, involved,,,
try the link below for details and a pic of what you are planning to do.

You don't need a four-link to get the car to handle. On the rear suspension, install a shock mount bar to eliminate the shock mounts on the body, fresh leaf springs, a set of coilover shocks, and maybe some Cal-Trac or other traction bars.

Up front, I highly recommend the Jim Meyer Racing bolt on front suspension kit for Tri Fives. It's an awesome kit that'll really improve the handling of your '55.

UNLESS YOU HAVE UNLIMITED FUNDS,SIMPLY REBUILD YOUR STOCK SUSPENSION, USING DROPPED SPINDLES WITH DISCS, NEW SPRINGS FRONT AND REAR WITH TOP QUALITY GAS SHOCKS. LOWERING YOU CAR WILL IMPROVE THE HANDLING DRASTICALLY. POSIES MAKES TEFLON BUTTON SUPER SLIDER REAR SPRINGS TO LOWER YOUR 55.......GOOD LUCK, MARK
