I have a 74'el camino, in which I changed the starter and replace a new battery and cables, and when i bolt in the starter it start up once, then the next time i try to start it doesnt't connect with my flywheel, which give it that nasty grindin sound when you try to start it up again .what are some ways I can fix this problems, it has been going on and off for the past few months.

you need to shim one side of the starter. You should have gotten directions how to do this with your new starter.

If it was the same with the old starter, you may have some bad spots on the ring gear. Assuming this is an automatic, time for a new flex plate.
