i'm getting ready to pull the 350 out of my truck (due to low oil pressure). was kicking the idea around about punching it out .60". i also want 202 heads with some port work, ditch the TBI for a carb, MSD, new headers..... and so on. you guys got any suggestions?

go .030 first. Its better in most apps to bore when needed. try for a 9.1 -10.1 compression ratio. heads sound fine. Go with roller tip rockers. Not full rollers. cheaper this way. youll have to have the heads machined for screw in studs which isnt to expensive. Go with a comp cams 4x4 cam of your desired size. a 650 cfm carb should do the trick with an edelbrock performer manifold. Just some ideas.

I would get a set of summit's 2.02 heads P#SUM-152123 they work well for the street. Only bore the block as much as needed. Get a quality rebuild kit with flat top pistons. If you are going to buy aftermarket rockers get full roller rockers otherwise you are just wasting your money. I would use a Lunati bare bones cam&lifter kit P#10001LK and a edelbrock performer air gap intake manifold.

youre gonna start spending money with that combo. Its a good setup though. $620 for a set of heads isn't to bad but when you can find a set of rebuilt set of double humps for 500 and even less the only difference is new and costs a little more. Roller tip rockers are effective and nearly half as cheap as full rollers.

You may want to price check with your machineshop on what you want done to the heads. A set of vortec heads perform very well for the money. Never bore a block more than needed, your just shortening the life of the block. Are you just wanting low rpm tq or all around performance?

Spending $500 on a set of 30+ year old heads and hoping that they did a good job on them I would say for the extra $150 the new heads are definitely the better choice.

Being in the machineshop biz myself I have seen some less than great head work thru the years and it hurts the ones that do take pride in their work.

+1, i would go with either vortecs, the summits, or some other cheap alumin.heads and have some known shop do some port work on them. i would go full rollers and wouldnt go .60 over. if you have the money go .30 over and get the 3.75 crank for a 383 combo, this will give you more low end torque. add a 650 carb. whats your compression ratio? or what will it be with 76cc or 68cc head?

well the 68cc will give you more compression than the 76cc. depending on what piston you use and head gasket will give you your compression ratio. what is your budget? do you want better throttle response and more lower end torque for that truck or more top end horse power? this question will tell you what cam to use once you choose your heads.

good combo All8burnin if u didnt have 2 worry about cooling the beast. when u punch one .60 over its really 2 close 2 the water jackets unless u run block filler and on the track. go .30 or .40 at the most.

I've never had any issues with a .060. If a .040 will run cool why not a .060? Its only .010 bigger per half diameter.
