I have a 12-bolt posi from a 66 Chevelle that Im installing into my 77 Monte Carlo. I need to know if there is a difference in the lengths of the parking-brake cable between the two. Also, my drive shaft u-joint in the Monte has 1.125 dia. caps and the yoke for the 12-bolt is 1.062. where can i find a combo u-joint to fit the 1.125 driveshaft and also fit into the 1.062 pinion yoke in the rearend. Or would it be cheaper/easier to change the pinion yoke to a 1.125? Thanks for any help in this swap.  BILLY

does that rear-end fit your frame???...i have a 75mc
a good parts store should be able to hook you up with an odd-sized u-joint...you may have to take bearing caps to match the new u-joint to

if not a good parts store then a driveline shop...i had a similar situation and my local napa was able to direct me to the right people to get a u-joint with different sizes on the crosses

on the p-brake cables...have the parts store check the parts numbers for new ones...if they are they same number they should be the same length...even if they are different lengths there is quite a bit of adjustment in the lead cable from the pedal...if necessary use additional routing hooks to take up some slack

Yes Scott, it is a perfect replacement for the 1st and 2nd generation Monte Carlos.  Thank you for the info.  I am going to my local CarQuest store today to see if they can help with the odd-ball U-Joint.

If I used the OEM trailing arms for the 12-bolt, the drivers upper trailing arm would have to be reworked. The inside lip has to be removed and a stiffener added for strength.  The lip hits the housing when installed.  or you could do what i did and ordered a set of performance "boxed" trailing arms.  I bought the "boxed" arms with polyeurathane bushings for 300 bucks complete. That was including the bushings for the axle housing too.  Thanks again for your help and hope I can help someone else out in this forum.  BILLY
