I got a crane cam with an engine i plan to build but have no idea what the specs ar the numbers on the cam are ht 284 2 and an6490 can sumone please help!

Hi i did some searching and could not find anything so I went to crane cams.com and sent an email with the specs u gave asking what information they have. Ill post the reply to the email as soon as i get it.

Prob 284duration,.480lift and 230duration@.050 I would wait on jon just to make sure

284 duration was also my guess but I couldn't be to sure because it could be a 284/294 dur vice versa.

That Crane # looked familiar to me but I build so many engines I could be mistaken. Crane has a cam close to specs of Comps 280m magnum and I think its this one.

Thanx alot for the help everyone i realy appreciate it must be an older cam thanx for all the input lemme kno if sumone nails what this cam is exactly gota get the right springs an so on thanx fellas

If you have a degree wheel and an engine to mock the cam up in you could just make your on cam spec sheet.

You need to get the full grind number off the tail of the cam to figure ths out. My Dad worked for Crane for almost 40 years, so getting it identified won't be an issue. But we need all the numbers.

its going into a small block chevy 406 400 with a 30 over bore

All u had to say is 406.lol i sent the message and ill let u know when i redieve a reply. I've got a 2 bolt 400 i've always wanted to do something with. Maybe somdeay... I've had a 377 as well. I loved it. Ended up snapping the cam in 3 pieces. lol I tried a elgin cam in it and i must've done something wrong. lol fixed it and ended up selling it.

yea i wish i could find a two bolt main wer i live all i can find is 4 so i got 2 extra blocks incase the one im usin decides to go i also had a 377 loved the high rpms but i wanted low end torqe since my chevelle is alittle on the heavy side

I got the cam card from crane cams. It is a hyd flat tappet. Made for57-87 V8 262-400 and 87-95 trucks as well. Has a good idle. Good for daily usage, off road, highway towing, performance and fuel efficency applications. 214/224 duration @.050 287/298 adv dur with 1.5 ratio rocker arm main power band is 1800-4400 rpm
