are there differnt blocks in 96to98 vortec 350 or are thay the same as the 86 and up block  i ask this becuse i want to run my 168 tooth flex plate for late model 86 and up with turbo 350 tranny on an late 350 vortec [96to98] but i think 153 tooth will only work with with vortec 350. some one please tell me im wrong

Your idea should work. As long as your flex plate came of a 1 piece rear main block.

That's correct. If your flexplate came off a one-piece rear main block, you can bolt it onto the 96-98 block. The "Vortec" engines had no block differences from the previous TBi truck engines, it was all in the heads and intake.

^camshaft had slightly different specs too i believe...
