Who here prefers the gentle curve on the short side radius under the exhaust valve seat over cutting straight back for more of a waterfall effect?

mr smarty-pants prefers what works best...whatever that shape is

from what i've read, a gentle curve works best...but i don't have a flow meter and haven't started doing port work myself...yet

Gentle curve is the most preffered method and mine too. Next polished shiny intake ports or semi-rough textured ports?

The question has a pretty clear-cut answer. We all know that a specified texture is superior for a wet-flow port.

Please don't try to refute this simply because I said it.

If we agree then why would I? Lets be real if the cam questions can be asked then why not one on port texture?

The same old rebuilding my engine stock whats the biggest cam I can run, building a 383 what cam will get me 500hp,whats biggest cam I can run with vortec heads, etc You cant tell me these are not the most thread topics? If members are supposed to know what port texture is best for intake ports then shouldnt they also be expected to know basic cam questions as well?

if everyone already knew it all, there would be no need for a forum, and gib would be out of a job

The ports have to have texture to keep the fuel molecules from gathering together. That is usually a rookie mistake, making the intake ports smooth, this causes puddling and  incomplete combustion.

I agree. I'm not sure why a topic on porting cylinder heads is such a bad thing. I think a different topic for those ready to move on past the PICK MY CAM topics would be nice.
