Ok, here is a question I need info on. I just put 1996 Vortec (L31) heads on my 1969 350 block, got a good deal on an Edelbrock Performer RPM (#7116)Vortec style manifold to match the heads, so far so good right? Well, the intake gaskets (old style didn't match up so I went and got a stock replacement gasket set ($45.00) which are plastic and have silicone beads around the ports. Fit right, holes line up fine but, no seal around the middle two ports and, there are extra bolt holes in the manifold that are NOT in the heads. I sealed them up with silicone to prevent oil leakage. Anyone else run into this and will it work? Need to know quick so I can get the proper gaskets BEFORE I drop the engine back in. Thanks.

Middle two ports? Are you saying your heads have heat crossovers?

6 on each side but the center two don't go to anything. the end ones go straight down like they are supposed to and match up with the vortec heads perfectly

Vortec style heads do not have exhaust cross over in them. The intake is bolted to the heads with total of 8 bolts, 2 at each corner with no bolts in the middle like an older style head. Not sure what the middle bolt holes on your intake are, maybe this manifold fits vortec and older style heads? I'd call Edelbrock.

Do the heads have the sawtooth pattern casted on the end of them?

they are L31 Vortec heads off a 96 vortec motor (I know, I took them off the original motor) It is the manifold I had questions about. They have the 8 straight down bolts in the corners the two center holes (like older style) don't go to anything so I siliconed them up to seal them, the engine is running fine.
