we did run in street a class and ran a 1985 307 old's 5a heads  with a 268 comp cam QJ carb with 76 jet's on front's cv rod's on k hanger for rear . 241 rear gear with single exhaust stock cross over pipe and all. cut out heat riser ran same size off manifold out under pass. side door that thing was just as quiet lol. we ran on asphalt 1/4 maybe a little less in low gear. a little lazy on slow start's but when you got that thing rolling it would spin all way around the track . highland rim . the car won several races there and nashville and carthige tenn. clutch fan and all. and there cheap plus you can stll do a lot more to them...

the good thing about this class is you dont have to worry about claiming. I think ill have him go with a 12.1 comp, lightweight pistons, mild cam, better valves and valve springs. this is a real short track so ill use 4.11's maybe. He'll cut out the heat riser. Also ill have him run some hot ignition that lookds stock as possible.

I would bump compression up to around 14:1. Acidporting the heads and intake will def help. Are you gonna port on his exhaust manifolds too? I'm guessing he doesnt mind being a little illegeal?

I prolly could do a little porting to the exhaust mainifold. I could acid port the heads but i wont chance the intake. Just in case if they ever have us pull the carb. Dont think they will but he'd rather not get fined 500 or get kicked out for 2 weeks. 14.1 cr is gonna take some bad arse pistons lol.

If you aim for 14:1 with the small carb he has to use you'll be alot lower than that. Just like if you aim for 12:1 your actual compression will be a  good bit lower. You could just acidport the ports on the intake and not under the carb area. Its a fine art but can be done.

he needs to run pump gas at the same time. So if he shoots for 14.1 and say the small carb bumps him to 11.1, maybe even 10.1, he can run 92 octane? Im thinking so just need to double check with you all.

If you can get me the cam specs along with carb cfm he'll be using,I'll let you know what he needs on compression for pump gas
