im doing a head gasket replace i went to buy the head gasket kit and they said there are 2 gasket kits one is for the newer motor and one is for the older motor how do i tell witch one i have they said the intake gaskets are diffrent its a 1997 camaro rs 3.8lt how do i tell what motor is it im confused please help

When u take off the head compare the new gasket to the old ones. Thatd be the easiest. If you want to know the block type, get the numbers of the block and look it up or ask any of us on this site and im sure someone'll figure it out.
