hello i am james i have a 1969 chevy c10 pickup put a 305 engine in it the engine is about a 1988-1990 model was fuel injected but change to carb run's very good and strong but some light smoke come's out the exhaust when at an idel smell's like gas i have changed the carb's three time's now and it still does it some time's it goe's but come's back could anyone help please

Maybe ignition prob. Check power leads(continuity and voltage), engine grounds, cap, rotor, and coil. Can also be caused by choke sticking shut or a dirty aircleaner. Did you hook an HEI dist. to the factory resistor power wire meant for points? Just a few thoughts.

make sure choke is not binding and working properly
