im building a 350 for my 88 k 1500...started with a goodwrench 4bolt block ...bored .30 over...flat tops...vortec heads with a performance machine job....stock valves...planning on sticking with throttle body...i know i need an intake and will need some computer mods...but i want a decent cheap cam...want to use stock roller set up and work at a dealership so i get a good price on factory parts.....i cant decide on a cam....im thinking of either astock vortec cam or an lt4 cam....i wanna keep the torque curve in the low end for towing.... any advice??

Did you upgrade the springs when the performance valvejob was done?

use the stock vortec cam if towing is your primary usage.

He could prob get one off ebay cheap. I had a small collection from tearing down stock vortec engines to build.

GM performance parts makes a decent roller camshaft at a pretty good price... Summit Racing carries it. its only $159, which is cheap for a roller cam, its got 288/308 duration and .431/.451 lift, with 109 lobe seperation... not a big cam, but a nice pulling/towing/street cam- very smooth idle... we put one of these in a buddy of mines TBI camaro, the carb wasnt the greatest that was on the motor, but it idled smooth, but you could notice a little "lope" to the exhuast note. its part # is 14097395 through GM performance or NAL-14097395 through Summit.
