Hey all I am new here and I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I was wondering if it is possible to take a sbc 305 and rebuild it to make it a sbc 350 or even a sbc 383. Any help would be great thanks a bunch.

No you can not make a 305 into 350 or 383.
Horsepower sells Engines and torque wins races.

Skeking maybe you need to repost what you did and spent on your 305? Maybe they'll listen to you.

Hi People, Check out my posting 31st/October/2009 which summarises the situation. IF you Must Indulge with the 305 then commence with a sonic test on the cylinder wall thicknesses as the early ones were crap. I believe that the last castings were better and had room for roller cams. I will now introduce a new possible option for the ENGINEERS to sort out. IF POSSIBLE; Put a crank with a 3.1" stroke with the right composition of pistons rods & deck height along with original 58cc heads with 1.84" inlets and pocket porting and port matching. You will need at least 9.1/1 comp with 268*cam with a 600DP Holley and an Edelbrock performer dual plane m/fold [rpm] and a good HEI dizzy. You will lose C/"s but surely pick up another 800rpm and have a more flexible Bore/Stroke ratio.. This may sound like an attempt to re-invent the wheel but if you have the dough then why not give it ago?. Have fun..Skyeking
