I recently bought an 83 chevy 3/4 ton parts truck to repair my 85 3/4t. The parts truck has a 305 with a turbo 400, I want to put the th400 in my truck with my 350 that was originally in my truck. Can I use the flexplate off the 305 on my 350 without complications or do i have to buy a new one? Thanks for any info in advance.

The 305 flexplate will work just fine. Make sure to check the flexplate for cracks at the torque convertor and crank boltholes. Check the teeth for wear too. If it checks ok bolt it on

Most 305's I have seen have a 153 tooth flex plate and the 350 has a 168 tooth flex plate the starter from the 168 tooth flex plate will not work with the 153 tooth 305 flex plate I would count the teeth on the original flex plate and get one with the same amount of teeth that the original had.

Hi people, I have used a 168 tooth flex plate on my earlier Chev /Jag conversion as I needed the 6 bolt holes for the Jaguar torque converter to fit straight on to the offset drilled USA flexplate and had no problems as a result on the 305... The gearbox was a Jag/TH400 which uses 98% USA parts. My 106 Adaptor kit was made in Australia and was a complete success and interchanged with the later 355 I had built later and is still working in another Jaguar transplant in another state 6 years later.. Both Blocks were very early castings.. All the best from Skyeking

168 tooth flexplate uses staggered bolt pattern starter/153 uses the straight across bolt pattern starter. 168 tooth flexplate will be a little over 14" across and the 153 tooth flexplate will be a little under 13" across. Match the starter to the flexplate or vice versa

I should have mentioned in my initial post that the 350 had a 4 speed mated to it so it has a flywheel not a flexplate. But i was already thinking about counting the teeth and then swaping starters if needed. Thanks again everybody.
