Have an '82 ElCamino TH350, and would like to use the BWT10 4 speed that I've got. Will lthis work, or will the shifter be too far to the rear and have problems with the bench seat? Would this be a reasonable tranny to use, or should I move into something newer? Thanks

What wrong with your 350? Also what engine are you running?

A th 350 will beat a 4 speed any day and it's going to be a headache to switch. Sell the T10 and beef up the TH350 or go for a 700R4 with overdrive.

I used a BWT10 for a while in a GTO, didn't care that much for it. I sold the BW & went back to the close ratio m22 muncie. My opinion the muncie worked better for street use. Besides working better theres probably better than 100 pounds difference in the trannies weight.( At least it felt like 100 lbs or more when pulling the trans.) As far as seat clearance, you should be able to measure from the bell housing to the shifter & get an idea how far back it'll set. You can always drive around w/the seat all the back I guess or go to bucket seats.

P.S.
I'd suggest considering ZMAN'S opinion of beefing up the TH 350. Would suggest the use of an external oil cooler, cooling the fluid will prolong trannie life & function.
