I have a 93 chevy truck, put a rebuild engine in it. Have had many problems with it, most are worked out. Have one left. This is a 350 TBI, and it wants to miss at idle. Appears to be timed right, and valves seems to be set right. When it is first started, it runs smooth and correct. Then after 4 or 5 seconds, it begins to miss. The exhaust stinks. Im wondering if the converter is plugged up and that is causing the O2 sensor to send back wrong information to the computer for fuel air mixture. Any ideas would be appreciated!!! thanks

The easiest way to tell if you have a sensor misfiring is to read the codes the computer throws. IF your exhaust sinks, and the converter has not been replaced, then that may be your culprit. Autozone and most other chain parts stores will read the computer codes for no charge.

LOL, that should be 'stinks', not 'sinks'.

You could take the exhaust loose at the manifolds and crank it to see if it still has the miss. It'll be a little loud but this will help narrow down the problem. Sinking exhaust is another problem all together! lol
