ok so a buddy of mine is giveing me a 1985 monte carlo ss for some engine work on his mustang.now the monte carlo is an auto shift,,,of course cuz as im looking i relize there is no such thing as a manual shift monte carlo.so this leaves an intresting task ahead of me.im looking into a complete change and trying to see what all i have to do to convert this.i know the tranny. im thinking a tremece t 56 or tko.not quite sure yet. i know im looking at putting in a 350 engine. possibly an LS 1 or LS 2 or some sort of LS series.maybe a big block 396 or something.not quite sure where im going yet with the motor.but to convert i know i need the tranny, possibly custom crossmeber.the hardest part to figure out is the clutch pedal.because since there is no manual version of this car i cant js change out the pedal assembly with one that has the clutch pedal.so im thinking of adding in a clutch pedal, wilwood or something.is there another model chevy that was available in manual that maybe the pedal assemblie would interchange?has anyone here ever done this conversion or heard of it or seen it being done?sorry bout the gramar.im so use to text messages.technology nowadays huh!!anyhow...whats everyones thoughts on this? sorry so long wanted to make sure i build a good picture for yall to follow.
one more thing. is there a speed sensor or something on the tranny i would have to replace?

I may be mistaken on this, but didn't the 80's El Camino come with a manual option? If it did then that will be your source for the pedals, x-members, driveshaft, and console for the shifter.
Speed sensor will not be ab issue since the car should have a cable speedo.
