I just pulled a 350 out of a 90 model caprice. It is Tbi and i believe the l03 or l05 engine. I am putting it in my 80 model el camino. I am getting rid of the tbi and going carbuerated I will be swapping to a edlebrock intake. I already have a edlebrock 650 cfm carb. I will also be installing a cam. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on other power adders or anything useful. I would love to get heads but I just cant afford them. I am not sure how big a cam i could run with stock heads either. any suggestions for a cheap build for decent power would be appreciated. Im looking for decent power for decent price

Cheap and power are two words that do not go together very well. The biggest bang for the buck I can think of is nitrous. Where else can you add 150 HP for 300 or so bucks. I would go for a medium grind in the cam dept. I remember putting a cam in a 350 I once had and it picked up only a tenth in the 1/8th and lost 5 mpg in mileage.

Camino, you may want to check some numbers on that motor if it's out of '90 B-body; don't think GM ever put a 350 in it that year. L03 is 305 or 307.

Take that back; there were probably many police packaged versions out there with 350's.

Yep they had 350's in the 90 model caprice and most I have seen were O.E.M. roller cam & lifters. With those TBI or swirl port heads you will not see a lot of gain if any even with a intake and cam swap. Your best bet is a decent set of heads or you will be just wasting money.

Those TBI heads are just terrible heads really would be your best bet. Look at Summit brand heads they can aren't quite as expensive as you would think. Look at a Comp 268h cam or something in the neighborhood.

Change those heads. Summit castiron heads are only $650 in either vortec or standard style. That'll be the best money spent!

Its hard to bet them for the price especially when he doesnt have heads worth fixing. Considering he could buy heads,cam/lifters,intake,carb and gaskets all for under $1500 he could have a decent engine
