700r4 4wd wont shift ....

i recently put a new 700r4 4wd tranns in my 88 chevy pick up, before i put in the trans would shift on the side of transmission fine now its in the trucks ready to go and it wont shift at all i push and pulled as hard as i could and no movement any ideas??

the linkage inside the trans is probobly assembled wrong

That sounds like that could be the problem.
