TO 69NOVA355, I;M TRYIN TO GET :ALL THAT ON LINE: BUT IM ALSO NEW TO THE COMP, INTERNET THING ALSO, NOT HAVIN TO MUCH FUN YET. WHAT'S WRONG WITH GOIN WIT TPI? I WOULD'NT HAVE TO REBUILD THE 600 CARB EVERY SPRING, FOR ONE, 2 I THINK IT 'S ALOT CLEANER LOOK UNDER THE HOOD,3 YOU DON'T HAVE TO KEEP ON POLISHING &WIPING DOWN THE POLISHED ALLUMINUM THAT'S TURNING WHITE. IF YOU HAVE A 69 NOVA THAT STILL HAS A CARB,AND YOU STORE IT OVER WINTER &PART OF THE SPRING, YOU KNOW WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT HOW MANY MORE TIMES DO YOU WANT TO REBUILD THAT SUCKER? WOULD'NT YOU RATHER JUST TURN THE FRIGGIN, KEY?

TO MPAYNE,  PERSONALLY I THINK THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH ENTHUSIAST SITES, AS LONG AS THE PEOPLE THAT ARE ON THEM ARE REAL ENTHUSISTS! NOT JUST SOMONE LOOKIN' TO START AN ARGUMENT OR GIVE BOGUS INFO.        P.S. IT'S NOT A 400 SMALLBLOCK IT'S A 355 SMALLBLOCK WITH 400+HP.

Hey there big fella, you seem to be the one initiating the hostile attitude, also just to let you know typing in capital letters on line is the same as YELLING at someone so unless it is your intention to be yelling at the people you are asking for help, hit the caps lock key it is on the far left about in the middle.

If you would like to convert to fuel injection there are much better systems available.  Check into Holley Projection system it will have everything you need to convert to FI.  Also Painless wiring can help with your wiring issues.

Look up a site called TPIparts.net they will have everything you may need and be able to help guide you along your way.

If you are looking to do it yourself get an 86 camaro and take the entire system fuel pump sensors and ecm off of it and install it in your car, again painless can help.

What kind of experience does your "pal" have to be downing these sites?  There is a wealth of knowledge available at your finger tips, all you have to do ask nicely and look around a ***

If you have any other questions or comments feel free to PM me.

Thank for clearing up the miss information about the block. Bogus info is just something that comes with the territory of the web.

incase he does not have the back issues... there is the search button on the upper right..

here are some links... to articles already printed... when i searched for TPI swap.

http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/techarticles/148_0207_tuned_port_injection_small_block_v8/index.html

there are a bunch more on this search

http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/sch/02/tpi-swap/articles/index.html?SearchSource=Group

be sure that when you get a complete system from a car... that you write down the year make and model... and the VIN number from the car... write it on the ecm... as you will need that info to plug in the scan tool that you will need...

one last thing.. unless you ask for more...  grounds..  between the engine and battery...  battery and body...  engine and body,,, and the most important... engine to ECM harness...    remember.. electrons flow from negative to positive..  light bulbs won't work with only one side hooked up...   your home computer would not work with the plug only part way plugged in.. so.. please .. make your life simple... make sure that all your engine grounds are clean and tight..

sorry i didnt know that you were that new to the net. welcome-its the gateway to all info. i dont know just call me old school but i think the engine just looks alot better with a carb. i guess i dont like tpi because i dont know how to fix or find problems when things go wrong.i just dont like plug and play. over the winter i still play wth my car so it never just sits there for long, so i dont mess with my carb unless i have a problem. you should sell all your small block stuff and get one of the ls family of engines- if you want the badest of fi engines

I just had my car Dynoed by a guy who also does FI conversions in his shop and what he told me was the stock systems are pretty good, if you stay pretty stock. If you stray to different cams they won't run right..EVER.. one of the aftermarket systems is the way to go, some are even self tuning (F.A.S.T, I think is the one he mentioned)Lots of information on here and other sites, just search FI conversions.

well, i made sure my caps lock is "off", it looks like i have to learn internet etiquet, and a hole lot more about a tpi conversion. i'm the kind of guy that always had a reliable car for work so i never had any trouble w' those sort of things like ecm's or comps, for that matter ,they were alway's covered under warranty. so i basically don't even know what they are or what they do.or why they even put things on cars that you just can't swap out like the days before electronic ign, even. so i guess i'm out of the loop on these things.does the comp, on the car contrll the air or the fuel, for the tpi?why can't i just take the top half of the 86 camaro's eng, assuming it's tpi and bolt it to my smlbk?make the thing hot and go? i am a journeyman lineman by trade{local319] so i do understand how the grounds would be an important issue. is it a big deal to wire in the car comp,&make thefuse box hot? yes it still has the orig, fuse box, thanx, can't believe all the responses! would i really have to change the cam?

Seriously I would recommend buying somebooks and reading up about your proposed swap and gain a bit of understanding about how it actually works.  There are pre engineered plug an play systems on the market, order a Jegs catalog and look at them.
