Hey, guys. I've been searching the web for about 2 years looking for ideas on what I want to do with my truck. I have a 1971 Custom/10 with a 350V8 3speed. Just recently changed it out, due to a broken column, to a floor shifter.

Had the truck since I was 16, and I'm finally to a point where I can start modding it out the way I want. I've been looking, and I've been thinking about getting a Muncie M-22 to replace my tranny. From what I can tell, this would be a pretty straight forward change out. Only thing is, finding a decently priced M-22 that I know is in working condition.

Another thing I've run across is a site selling the T56 6 speed, and the T5 5 speed. Just wondering if anyone could give me some information on converting my truck to the T56 6 speed. What parts I'd need, and what kind of fabrication would go into a job such as this.

Thank you for any input/help - Cercious

is your truck a light weight//????

there are better options..

there are also several other transmissions that will bolt in mostly...  some strong... some weak...

since you have made the 3 speed last..   you might be able to step right to a 4 speed saginaw.. or an M21 or even a M20 wide ratio unit..  there are also gm applications A833's as i understand that will bolt in..    T10's... so many options...

but having 5 or 6 forward gears .. might be nice...

Thanks for the links. Informing, definitely, but not really what I'm looking for. I'm wanting to go with something street/strip, which is why I'm looking at the M-22 and the T56. Once I get the truck finished the way I want it, I know I won't be able to make a Sag. 4speed last long at all.

I'm really only looking to go about 500-600 hp or maybe less. Not sure yet. Right now I'm just thinking ahead, and I want a new tranny to make it a little more fun to drive while I save up for the rest of the stuff I want to do.
