I have a 92 Chevy Silverado with a 383 stroker and a whipple charger. I was driving today down the road and all of a sudden she shut off and wouldnt start up again i had to pushit to advanced auto and after doing some standard trouble shooting i found that my fuel pump wasnt pumping or turning on anyway so i went in to advanced and got a fuel pump relay switch and replaced old one and tried to start it and my fuel pump started to pump i could smell fuel under the hood and tried to start it again and no start i think because of all my trouble shooting i might of flooded the motor im not really sure if thats it or not my next step i think is to see if there is any spark in the wires i have a msd ignition im probably going to get shocked but ohh well if you have any ideas please let me know and again its a 383 stroker with a whipple charger it did push about 450-500hp well thanks for listening and any help would be greatly appreciated thanks again

but you have not described if you have modified the fuel injection system... and what did you do to the ignition system...
pull a spark plug... which ever one is easy to get to... see if it is fouled..
spark. air and fuel... but these are ecm controlled...

well it has a msd ignition pretty strong nice msd wires and i did check for spark with a spark tester i checked my codes and it is 12 which means all good no other codes. msd distributor also installed it worked great just randomly shut of going like 30 or 40 i think it is either flooded or the fuel quality (dirty fuel) seems to make sense the place i get my fuel has had bad fuel in the past but it is the only place that actually guarantees its fuel so thats why i use it if you have any other questions please ask i just dont know what else to do im calling the fuel companys corporate office in the AM

code 12 also means no rpm signal from the distributer...
there are lots of NO START charts to follow... in most gm service manuals..
how did you get the code 12.. by jumping the aldl... or do you have a scan tool so you can look at live data?????
can you verify the fuel pressure... and that the fuel pump works... which fuel injection system do you have.??? vortec or TBI the fuel pumps are different.. but look the same... 25 psi for the TBI fuel pump vs 60 to 70 for the vortec...
where to start.. power out the coil wire... sharp crisp snaps.. ability to throw a spark over 3/4 inch..
spark out the spark plug wires... hot spark... not some weak orange spark.. nice blue.. you should be able to throw a good 1/2 inch spark at the end of the plug wire...
so much more... got a scan tool.... check for rpm signal to the ecm... it will display rpm on the scan tool... even during cranking.. so much more...
alldatadiy.com
or
eautorepair.net will have the full diagnostics you can print out...
when things die during running... fuel ... too much ethanol will damage some electric fuel pumps... ignition module... pick up coil going bad... ignition coil really going bad.. not often.. the ignition rotor burning through... yep happens.. coil power goes right through the rotor to the shaft under it... it has taken out sprint cup cars near the end of the race... motor just dies...
so many things...

I have a 383 in my 88 cutlass my car would start but wouldnt stat running i took the single possitive (red) wire off of my distributer cap and ran a wire straight to my batt and with the hot wire running to my batt i plugged it back into the distributer and is runs great now.... eventually i ran a toggle to the hot wire because even if the key wasnt turnt the gage lights would stay on as long as that wire was connected...
