how much does one of them blocks run? Doesn't sound to bad to me...

Aftermarket blocks are usually around $2000.

the 377 sounds awsome id def go with that , the 406 sounds ok but , if your going for torque and cubes its just best to build a 496 imo.

Keep in mind that any block purchased will have to be honed to size. Which means it will have to be rewashed and cam bearings installed.

i'm sure we will not go with a new block. Trying to make it more of a budget build.

I understand that! everybody is on a budget right now which is way I'm lucky to be in the field I'm in. I just finished building a 406 for under a grand and complete carb to oilpan.

for the project were doing, a big block's physical size is a little to big and won't fit. The small block is really tight but yes, you can't deny the old saying theres no replacement for displacement!

For a street car I like adding CI not removing. Torque is what moves the car!
