The only difference between the 350 and 400 heads are the steam holes. Just drill the holes if your heads dont have them. You can easily exceed 400hp with ported heads and proper cam in a 377 or 406.

haven't really decided yet. Were not planning on even starting on the motor until next spring or summer, just trying to get some information on what everyone likes and all.

not judging or sayin its bad but why are you guys going with the 377 and not the extra cubes of the 406 or 408? is it a new dart short block 377? that would be bad a**.

Just an idea for you.......
I built a 406ci engine w/ approx 525HP a few years ago
220cc aluminum heads, 72cc combustion chambers. 2.08 intake valves, Fully forged bottom end, Eagle 4340 crank, Eagle rods, light weight forged pistons, Air gap intake, etc, etc, etc
I built this all for less then $5k....
Just an option for you

I've built both engines several times and each has its advantages and disadvantages. If hes wanting a hi-revving engine then the 377 is a much better choice than a 406

i am looking for a high reving engine. I love how the 327 revs but its not a torque motor, so i wanted something that would do both...a little better.

i always take torque and cubes but with a tiny car like that high winding might be cool.plus im sure 377 still gets decent torque as it is closer to 383 than 350

I'm not worried about it not having enough torque. I'm not all set on the 377 either, i might still go with a 400 or 406, or might end up with 350. Just depends what parts are ready to go and how much money i have at the time. I was also wondering the difference between the edelbrock performer and performer EPS intakes are. I have both and know the eps is better, but how much?

Dart is selling new 372 and 400 short blocks as of late, with options on pistons, rods, cranks etc. good bang for the buck.
