I'm researching a problem for a friend who has a 2002 Z28 who is about to fix the rear end for the second time.  Do these rear axels have a common problem of a short life expectancy?  Is there an alternative axel that might hold up better which would not require modification?  How about a Corvette rear end?

GM High-Tech Performance did an article on how the stock rearends are garbage so they opted and swapped it out with a Strange S60 Rearend. The swap was done on a 01 Camaro so it will work for your buddy.
