For mpg I like my rice racer only because I treat it like crap and is still runs, but in the truck market imports fail. How can a v6 Tundra get 15/19mpg  and a V8 Silverado get the same mpg...Epic Fail Toyota.

I would hope most true AMERICANS would boo such a product.
Incidently my wifes 04 Cavalier with 68K on it can easily get 30+ on the highway, right around 32-33 staying in the 65-70 mph range.
She does a lot better in that dept. as the hot rod in me never goes away.
I could give a poo less about gas mileage, give me performance anyday and may the EPA die a miserable death.
What started out as a pretty good idea has grown into another power mad govt. organization.

Be careful about what we call "American" cars and trucks... my 2003 3/4 ton Suburban- built in Mexico; my 1997 Silverado pickup- built in Canada.  If your late model VIN doesn't start with 1,4, or 5, it wasn't built here.  Like wise, many so called "imports" are now built here.  I'm a tried and true Chevy guy, have been for many years and want nothing to do with "imports", but it gets harder all the time.  That Tundra everybody booed was probably built here, (by Americans), in fact, I know it was.

Ya dave I agree with most of what you're saying, the nissan was a temporary fix for a broke kid starting life.  140mile round trip commute everyday also factored in a ***

The Nissan was the only import ever owned by myself or anyone in my immediate family.

If you are in some way implying that I am UNAMERICAN you are seriously mistaken.

The Malibu may do a little better if it wasn't so much fun to ring it out to 6500 all the time.

Hey Smoke, not sure if that "implied unamerican" comment was back at me, but no, I didn't intend anything of the sort.  Was simply pointing out the most of us , myself included, are still attached to the stigma that all Toyotas, Nissan's, etc are built overseas and all Chevys, Fords etc are domestic. Hasn't been the case for many years. And one could certainly understand a house full of Detroiter's booing a Toyota, given what they've been through the last few years.  They did after all have another season of the Lions to look forward to, LOL.

I do agree that imports are great for broke college kids but then some develop a love for them that last forever. My kids are still young and I already have them hooked on muscle cars...Go Dodgers...One can only hope for a world series victory.

I took my daughter to Camaro5 event which is in the event section and she had a blast. I would have taken my oldest son but he's 3 and would be leaving finger prints all over those Camaros.

I am not pointing a finger at anyone.
I hate to admit it, but I foolishly bought a Toyota back in 1980, it had about 4K on it. What a piece of junk that was. How many of us have ever had a rear end go bad in a domestic, I never have, except for those I have killed with rediculous amounts of HP and traction.
The one in this car went bad at 66K at which point I got rid of it. It also had the fan shaft break in 2 and fall into the radiator, varoius trim parts falling off, a weird miss problem in the motor. I never went near another import after that.

Wow smoke your teaching them young. Dave I hear you on the Toyota. My in-laws gave me a Previa when my family started to grow and I've had my problems with it. My Cat converter went out at 110k, my sliding door brake at 75k and now I have an electoral short causing my power door locks and interior light not to work. What a pos. At least the engine runs. Not to praise any imports but between my Honda and my Toyota Honda makes them stronger and thats not saying much.
