There was a dyno comparison with an LS motor vs the old reliable SB motor. Anybody remember what issue that was in?

Maybe the editor would. Send an inquiry from our contact link and ask away.

Thanks, found it. Jan 2007 issue, 402ci LS vs 406ci SB both made almost identical peak power at 583.

I think I found the article you were referring too. Let me know if I'm right or wrong.

Thats the one. It was pretty amazing how close they came out in the power dept. Within a few HP throughout the entire RPM range.

I guess the only preference now is carb or fuel injected since they match up almost head to head.

Yes you can as there is an intake available and in tests the carb outperformed the stock FI setup in peak HP below 3500 and above 5400 with several different cams.

I've seen that done, not for me though. Since I've driven nothing but fuel injected cars I'm kind of hooked on it. Plus I like anything digital compared to mechanical.

Of all the garbage to come out of the EPA required mandates. I must admit computer controled FI, developed by the auto industry, is an improvement. All around performance, driveability, and even economy is improved over the old carb. For racing, however I am still old school, a carb is hard to beat for cost and performance. Tunability with FI is superior as you can set the fuel curve, etc on your laptop.

Nice thing is even modern cars can be converted to carb. Take a LS1, I've seen 2002 Camaro dragsters converted to carb for racing.

Nice to have conventional carb, points, etc. when the Pulse weapons start detonating.

If a big enough EMP strikes all of our computers, cars, TVs will be destroyed electronically. Unless adaquate shielding is installed. Anybody have a lead shielded computer??

Sure do, it's right next to my lead shielded microwave.
