The noise is on the drivers side. I replaced a lifter I thought it was and nothing. It did quiet down when I pushed on this lifter with a handle I thought. I sprayed around the upper intake for leaks and found nothing. Oil pressure is good. It's not the belt as I originally thought it was when I bought the car (I replaced that too). The area I hear the noise from the most when listening through a stick is shown in the pictures. It's heard in the upper intake. The video has the sound it's making. It sounds best towards the end as I moved to the drivers side. Thanks for any ideas....

Hi,

Don't know this engine, but does it look like an '72 454?
I also had a ticking noise, replaced belts, waterpump, adjusted the pushrods a few times (I assume you adjusted the pushrod since you replaced the lifter)
anyhow, finally I found it, the ignition distributor cap had a loose contact in it, which was hitting the rotor of the ignition, and I would swear it was in the engine
When the engine was running, I checked the sparkplug cables and suddenly the noise was gone when I checked the connections on top of the distributorcap, that's how I found it....
Maybe you have the same problem??
Good luck.

i wonder if the hissing noise is the idle air bypass motor .... just bypassing a bunch of air past the throttle body..

i really don't like the lifter noise...   sounds like the cam is starting to go flat...

it still could be the fuel injectors...
