The #'s are stamped in the pad on the front right. I'd like to find out exactly what this engine is. Can any one give me some input. I was told it is a 454 Tall Block. How can I find out for sure? Thanks, Kerry

The only XA suffix code I found was for a 1969 350 truck engine with 255HP. Post the casting numbers as well.
Horsepower sells Engines and torque wins races.

O.K. I had a tough time getting to them. I believe they are 3819318, or something very close to this, I was reading them with a mirror and a flashlight.

could it be this number 3916319 366 68-85 Truck, heavy duty...
the closest for the suffix number would be a YA
YA 1966 Truck 366 222HP L-41 50

It,s in a 1989 GMC 6000 School bus. It does have L-81-T cast on the pass. side below and between the freeze plugs. This engine is a recent rebuild, not sure if it is the original block or not, Government agency said it is a 7.5 L. and that is all they know. The XA suffix is definite. I want to thank every one for all your input.

just curious... do you have the entire bus???? what's the 8th digit of the vin number...
heavy duty stuff usually has tall deck motors...
just because it looks like a 454... does not mean its not a HD366 or HD427.. tall deck motor..
check the suffix list
