Need some recommendations for motor oil for 383 stroker, flat tappet 1983 P/U.
I will be installing the engine this fall.

There are a number of threads on this subject, on just about any automotive forum. In a nutshell, reductions in the additive ZDDP in today's motor oil, can be damaging for a flat tappet cam. Your alternatives are, using oil that still has enough to protect, or use an additive. There is a regular on "Team Chevelle" that has done a lot of research on the subject.
