I am building a 1971 Chevrolet CST-10 Pickup and need some rear-end advice.....
I have the stock 10 bolt non-posi rear-end in there now, I was going to build it up to a posi rear-end from Auburn Gear. Is this a good idea?
Would it be best to have a 12 bolt posi? or Would it be better to swap out for a aftermarket.
My truck is currently having a Big Block Chevy built for it, probably pushing 500 + HP, I want something to hold up to the torque. Mostly for the street, probably will see the track a time or two.
Please advise

With 500 hp, I would upgrade to a 12 bolt at least. I run an '85 c-10 pushing 330 hp and my 10 bolt didn't last very long. I have been very pleased with the performance of the original GM Eaton posi in my 12 bolt. Oh ya, and with that much hp, I would avoid the GM Gov-Loc auto locker that came in the 10 and 12 bolt rears.

12 bolt is fine but a Ford 9" would allow easy change of gear ratios so you could have one for street and one for strip
