I just bought a 327 and was doing some research to find out more about it. The guy told me it was a '68 and if he remembers right it came out of an Impala. When I googled the T 14 CONV #1. I found your post. I can not find a HH. I did find H2 660 633, (the 33 could be 88) with a T under the 2. Why does his have HH and mine has an H2 and a T under the 2. Also, would you mind telling me what does 4brl mean? I appreciate the help. Thanks

Where are you getting your numbers/letters, country? The info listed above comes from a pad on the block, in front of the right cylinder head. The top line in the stamped numbers/letters on this pad, ends in a suffix code that tells a lot about the engine. The example above ends in two letters but many have three. There are several places on the web to decode the stampings, one I like to use is "nastyz28.com"

I could not bring the engine home today, but I did take some pics. On the back of block on the ledge on the left side: GM 3914660 with the T14 CONV 1 being the second set going from left to right and the H2 660 633 (33 may be 88) with T under the 2 is on the right hand side on back of the block where the trans would be covering it. I really appreciate you guys helping me out. I'll be going to pick up the engine one day next week and clean it up and see what else I can find, but by the pictures I took I could not see any #'s on the front of the block.

Check out Mortec, NastyZ28.com, and Chevymania. Post your findings and we can all compare.
