A good article on compression ratio. How detonation is effected with iron/aluminum heads. How much more can you get away with with a longer duration cam. How a stall and gears effects things. All that and more. And not the vague, general info seen in the past. I've only built a few motors but I've always gone conservative on compression(mid9's) because I have too much invested to be wrong.

Also on a less popular note: I THINK chp did an article a few years ago about a 90's 4x4 that ran 10's.(Might have been sc) Are there any other 4x4's that drag? I have a 68 swb, and a 72 Jimmy. I can't help but think about my 68 slammed with slicks on all four corners and a nasty big block. If you've ever seen a 4 wheel burnout on pavement you know what I'm talking about!

I know you probobly can't do the 4x4 thing, but the cr thing would be great!

I like the idea about compression.  I want to build a high compression motor but I'm scared the thing will dotonate and rip my $ apart.  Octane levels should be explained well also.  What things affect what octane you can run in your high compression engine.  I go to school for auto collision and repair and I think you guys should also do more in depth paint stuff.  I see a lot of poorly painted cars and I know they were done at home.  Maybe you can help fix that problem.  Thanks.

Oh, and I think you guys should do an article on the whole GM crisis.  What's going on, what were looking towards, and the probability of them pulling through.

Might be interesting. It may also set the record straight since rumors always get around with things like this.

I've been a SB and BB builder all my life, but only the old ones.. I'd very much like to see an engine tear down and rebuild of an LS series engine.  And with explanations or comments on the oiling systems, cooling, whether the rings are seated higher up the pistons, after market acc. etc...

a lot of people think going to big block form small block is as easy as droping it in. maybe in depth about springs, fule, bigger cooling and all the other good stuff. how much money it will cost altogether.

a 10:1 hydraulic flat tappet everyman engine and swap heads on the market starting with vortecs and working their way up.  A ton of the questions or these forums deal with that, or the difference between certain cams on an everyday regular guy engine.  Then build power from there.

What would be nice is to know what LS engines are compatible to which other LS engines. Example, I'm looking to upgrade my 2001 GMC 5.3 LM7. What short block can I use with my heads, timing cover, etc? Am I stuck using LM7 components? The best low buck option is a LS2 block from a 2500 HD. A salvage yard will sell it complete. Will I only have to change out the CPU chip? I don't want to break the bank, because I'll be upgrading the Tranny later on. Is a LSX stroker short block compatible with my heads? 408 cui is what I would choose. Looking at engines on the internet can be overwhelming. How hard would it be to install a LS6?

Thanx,

The November issue does have some LSX coverage in it. Who knows the magazine may be turning a new corner. More LS coverage would be nice.

How about an article covering THE PROPER WAY TO PORT MATCH AN INTAKE TO HEADS. This is something that I see being done wrong on a regular basis
