ok yes i already know yall are going to tell me to junk it and buy a 350. well i would but i cant. ok so here we go. my question is will these heads baring the code of 14014416 fit this block baring the code of 14094766. everything i bring up on the block says is 88 to whatever but i thought that would be throttle body or injection, right? maybe not.
i also have a block with the number of 14010201 thats really needs some rod bearings and the pistons look great. i was thinking about putting them in the other block.
and i have another set of heads that are coded with 14022601.

the 416 heads are monte carlo ss heads. they are the best heads for the 305 besides the vortecs or the world one .but they are a pre-86 it's made for a 4bbl intake not tbi. as for the blocks it up to you the newer ones have i 1 pice seal and the older ones have a 2 pice seal. (i my self like the 2 pice seal better)

the older one is eat up bad and i dont have the money to put in it for new bearings.
the nwer block is in great shape and will take nothing but a gasket set to put it back together.
i have an edlebrock performer intake and carb, i was planning on putting on there if it will work.

The 416 and the 601 are alike heads and are 305 ho heads and will fit either block but will have to have a pre 87 intake.

The heads are indeed similar and are fairly standard 305 pieces. It's an oxymoron to say "H.O. 305" so I say they are "standard" pieces.
Both sets of heads will require a pre-'87 intake manifold bolt pattern. There is no way to distinguish between four barrels or fuel injection really (at least considering the aftermarket), it's all about the year of engine the manifold was designed for.
Re-using factory pistons? That's awfully cheap, some good hypereutectic pistons will only set you back a couple hundred bucks at most.
