Hi
The title of this post is wrong. Should be 67. I bumped my computer and the 6 flipped over (joking.Input error). I have a nice, clean 67. The painted steel portion of the dash between the glass and the dash pad needs to be repainted. I seek some knowledgeable advice:
Must I remove the dash for this new finish or could I remove the windshield and leave the dash in place?

I updated the year on your post title so you can get the correct advice.

well its up to how much work you want to do. if you feel like you can tackle the job than just remove the window. you have to remember doing this will require you to cut the current sealant for the window. its much easier than yanking on the dash but again its up to you!

If you're going for show quality, pull the windshield to get the best coverage. If you look at the metal part of the dash from outside, through the windshield, notice how the dash curves down just before the windshield leaving a small gap? No sprayer I know of can hit that spot so imagine the overspray that will collect there. I'm not sure if the 67 Chevelle is similar to my 79 Nova as far as the windshield defogger cutouts in the top of the dash. If they are, you'll also have to contend with the overspray problem on the glass side of the vents as well. Good luck.
