ok, so my chevelle has been sitting in my driveway for about 2 years now and i'm just now finding out that the frame might NOT be bent. i'd like to know what to look at to tell if it is. is that something i can do at home, or do i have to take it somewhere so they can lift it and such??? any info would be greatly appreciated, i'd love it if i could start work on it soon! thanx =)

If there is not some obvious problem, then a body shop that does frame repair should be able to take measurements that will tell.

first thing... there is a guy on Ebay selling copys of frame dimension charts... 5 bucks...
you can tell if the crossmember is bent/ collapsed... do the motor mount through bolts go in without a bunch of prying??
you can measure the distance between the insides of the upper control arm mounting brackets by placing a long board across the top of the fenders... using some thick wire and clamps to hold it in place so you can reach down on either side of the motor and measure the distance between them... so move the wires till the just touch.. then pull the whole thing out and still holding it the same way it was on the fenders.. touch the tips on a measuring tape on the floor... see what the measurement is ...
many A and F bodys from the mid 60's and early 70's are bent there.. from the suspension levering the frame upward and inward...
you can also tell the front of the frame needs help.. when you cannot get a proper camber setting without offset shafts of upper bushings...
i have posted do it your self instructions several times over the years... its not hard... but it does take some stuff not found in the normal home garage...

here is the link for a 67 chevelle frame chart...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1967--CHEVROLET-CHEVELLE---FRAME-DIMENSION-CHART_W0QQitemZ250452035726QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20090626?IMSfp=TL0906261810005r6181
i know he has others... factory service manuals also have the same chart...
a hand full of frame shops have the old ones also.. one frame shop near my house in so cal says they have them back to the early 1920's they have been there that long.. i don't ask him for copies its just easier to get them from manuals or EBAY..
