you know what, i like the way you think jimmy0. i'm not a ford fan. i've only owned chevy's so far. i've driven fords, and i just don't like them. mustangs are cramped and uncomfortable. i could sit in the back seat of camaro any day of the week. i'm sorry, i just don't like hitting my head on the roof everytime a bump comes along. another thing to think about are the looks of the first gen camaros and the current ones. because of all the safety regulations that are put out, you can't have cars that look like the classics. look at each generation of the corvette. look at the first and second gen, and then look at a C6 and a ZR1. the general shape is there, just not as...awesome, i guess is the right word...i would take a stingray with a 427 over a Z06 any day, just as i would take a 69 rs over a new camaro any day. because of all of the safety laws that vehicle manufacturers have to comply with, we can't have a camaro that looks like a first gen with a 6spd, ls1, 6 disc changer, and cruise control. that's just not how politics work...atleast i don't think. and honestly, who cares if ford turns to every performance company and begs them to build a new mustang and throw a ford emblem on it? mustang gt and a v8 camaro...that's comparable, and we all know who wins that one. uhh, not ferd...

In my oppinion the new camaro should be compeating with the mustangs that are built by roush and shelby........ not the stock gt and v6 ones. the price isnt right for them. So far the only ones that are on par with the tuned mustangs are the ones that have been tuned by HPE but once agan the price isnt quite there yet, but chevy isnt in the best place right now and if the new camaro sells well with the current price then that willl go a long way towards pulling them back. As far as the stock mustangs go the car that should be compeating with them is the impala ss and it does that job well concidering that most police use the v6 ones and can do every bit of what a mustang gt can

you know what? so far you're the only person who's given me a legitimate reason for the mustangs, so w/e =) but if enough of the old rich people buy the camaros, like you said it might pull them out of the hole and they can lower their prices, making better competition for the dirt *** cheap mustangs

Thats my point. But,,,, as of right now chevy should be making the camaro more compeditave aganst the mustangs that have been tuned by companys like roush and shelby. they would actuly be somthing to behold, an off the lot camaro that can smoke a gt500. I would love to see that.

blah blah blah *rolls eyes* iroc knows not to really get into this w/ me but you guys.... i don't see how chevy being broke has anything to do with BUYING the new camaro, and maybe if they did make a more COMPETITIVE (iroc you cant spell) camaro, people would be more willing to cough up the dough and it might pull chevy out of the hole. i just hate to hear people complaining about the new camaro and then go buy a damn mustang =/

I'm not complaining about the new Camero, I just dont like the styling of it. Price, comfort, drive train, colors...ect are fine with me, but that butt ugly euro styling just dont set with me.
I do like the styling of the shelby, its comfortable, price is fair, great color options, drive train options are endless and like many chevy's its still an american icon.
Maybe GM will see the writings and change it up a bit, if they do and style the camero a bit differently I will buy one.

Gm will never learn they are broke because you can only sell junk for so long and they have been sell junk for alot of years now.

Well, I was bummed about the looks of the new camaro myself. That is until I saw one in person a few days ago. Its one of those cars that pictures don't do justice to. In pictures you don't get a good feel for the proportions and details in their shape. Please, before you knock it, walk around one. I know the stylings not for everyone. They could have designed it like the conservative, fit in with the hondas mustang. Thank god they didn't. Performance wise, come on, the v6 has 300 horses, thats mustang gt territory. From reviews I've read, the SS is as fast, or only slightly slower than the best mustangs ford has to offer. And the camaro isn't supercharged(yet),like all the best mustangs are. I think most of us know what a small supercharger will do to an LS type motor. Price? Yeah, their more expensive than the stang by a few thousand, but thats about it, if you compare msrp to msrp. I know dealers are jacking the prices right now, but that will end as the new wears off. Soon you'll be able to get deals and incentives from the dealers, just like the stangs. Do you really think ford makes makes better cars than Chevy these days? I know people who own both and I really, really don't think thats the case. They are very comparable. This has gotten way too long so, to conclude, I'll take mine with a bowtie, thank you, in black.

regarding shootnrats, i realize everyone's entitled to their own tastes, opinions, etc. but i'd like to hear legitimate reasoning about them.
of course, i'd always rather someone choose american, even ford, over any of the many foreign cars that people are buying now

OK....I attended the unvailing of the new camero at the local dealership here in town, the owner is a friend of mine. I was looking at the covered car on the showroom floor and trying to imagine what is was going to look like by observing the lines of the cover. The more wine I drank the better the car looked under the cover, like other things in life! When the cover was removed I almost choked on the drink, OMG!! what have they done..I thought to myself.
Somebody put a caddy under the cover as a joke..nope it was the camero. to me it looks like any other run of the mill car. sharp edges, that ridge in the front. A grill that looks like a smilling cat with a double *** the trunk area is flat with no personality at all. Then he started the car, is it running?? yep I smell it. Time for more wine! where's the cheese to go with my whine! I now begin looking at the top, it looks like the old dirt track cars when they would chop the front of the top to make it look cool! I never chopped mine..didnt like it. Then the euro styling began to set in on me, if I wanted a a euro car I would by a bmw. At this point its making me sick, maybe it was the wine.
It just dont trip my trigger, I was disappointed because I did want one. Gary came to me later that evening and asked what color I was ordering, he was excited about the car. He could tell I wasnt impressed with it and told me to come by the next day and drive the car. I did, still wasnt impressed.
If we were all the same in every way it would be a very boring world!!!
TO EACH THIER OWN.....

Ive seen the models of the new camaro up close. they look damn good from the front and sides. But the rear end of the car is ugly as hell. GM would sell more camaros if they were cheaper, yes, its that simple. Just figure out the payment plan once. At the 30k price tag and an 8.9 interest rate the payment would be approx 630, with a 10k downpayment/trade the payment would still be 450 dollars. Its not affordable to the average american that makes 30-40k a year. Thats who GM needed to market this car to, average americans. The middle class makes up a major part of this country and a vehicle must me marketed to them to be successful. I bought my 02 z-28 for 25k with 7 miles on it and now the same thing costs 45k 7 years later, thats just unrealistic inflation. Blame it on the Unions. Retired workers make 90% of their salaries, plus full benefits, plus their pension plans, and people wonder why automakers are assembling their cars in Canada and Mexico.
