What's up guys? I have a 67 Impala with a GM Targetmaster 350 with Gen I heads on it. I just need to know what would be the best direction to go in. I'm just trying to build a nice street rod that really moves. I have a guy that wants to turn it into a 383 for 3 grand but I'm not sure if it's actually needed. Any advice that you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

67 Impalas are pretty cool but heavy. A 383 is a good choice and there are a lot of builds already done in Chevy Hi performance you can read about complete with parts needed and costs and how much power they produce. A heavier car like an Impala could use the extra torque of a 383. A stroker kit and a set of good aftermarket heads will really wake up that motor. good luck.

$3000 for building a 383 seems a bit high. You can get 383 stroker kits for $600-700 that include crank, rods, pistons, bearings, everything else needed for the bottom end rebuild.

I thought so too. Where can I purchase the kit from?

Here is a list of articles with some 383 builds that should help you out.

One of the kits they do use is from Brodix.

The block has cracks in it. Is it worth salvaging?
